It’s so simple - AirPods

My experience with Apple AirPods has been fantastic, the sound quality is passable, but the ease of use can’t be beat. Also… that case! 💖 When I really want the best quality, I plug in these bad boys!

Airpods

When it comes to tapping, the third time is a charm.

At launch, people criticized (with varying degrees of merit) AirPods for the lack of play/pause & volume controls. While enabling the former is quite possible (by changing the configurable double-tap option within the Airpods settings), there is no way to control the volume. I realize a user can quite easily use the volume buttons on the iPhone in your pocket, use their Apple Watch controls or even, god forbid, ask Siri to do it (for the love of god… don’t!), but for my mind Apple curiously missed one possible alternative!

Apple should allow discrete, configurable operations when tapping the left and right AirPods, and also make available a Triple-tap option.

For example, Double-tapping the left/right AirPod to decrease/increase volume a notch. Triple-tap the left/right AirPod to play/pause (or activate Siri, if that’s your thing). Alternatively, Triple-tapping could perform larger increments of the volume. Another possible options is to make use of single taps, but I am assuming Apple deliberately excluded a single tap to avoid accidental bumps a user might have in the hustle and bustle of a busy commute. Importantly, give the user more control to configure what double or triple tap does. Perhaps a user wants to configure double-tap left/right to play/pause, and triple-tap left/right to skip back/forward and back, in a similar fashion to EarPod controls.

It’s so simple.
